About

Established in 2024, the Indigenous Medical Learners' Association (IMLA) is a student-led organization committed to supporting Indigenous medical learners and advancing Indigenous health within medical education.

Mission and Vision

IMLA’s mission is to support Indigenous learners through mentorship, advocacy, and culturally grounded initiatives. Our vision is a medical education system where Indigenous learners thrive, Indigenous knowledge is respected, and healthcare is equitable, culturally safe, and responsive to Indigenous communities.

Guiding Pillars

IMLA is guided by six pillars that shape our priorities and initiatives: mentorship, learner support, research, curriculum development, policy and advocacy, and resource allocation.
